My nomad story

I’m Romney, Nomad’s Programme Manager for the APAC region. I come from Perth, Western Australia and have always lived and worked here. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, I worked for Telstra, Australia’s biggest telecommunications company for many years, in microwave radio system design – which I thoroughly enjoyed!

I have also worked a couple of years for consultancy firms that included communication systems for the mining industry – which was a big thing over here in Perth.

10 years with Nomad

In my spare time I like to travel and ride my bicycle, preferably both at the same time! I now also have formalised recognition in the engineering industry as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), and Senior member of the IEEE.

I started at Nomad Digital almost 10 years ago as a Senior Wireless Engineer, but I was also involved in Bids, Sales, Compliance and Delivery. APAC is a small region, so we all get involved in various roles and help each other out!

Fast forward 10 years and I am now Programme Manager for the region looking after Delivery. Since working with Nomad, I have a much better understanding of the rail environment and appreciate the long sales cycle for this industry. Nomad is constantly evolving, and I enjoy being part of that process and developing.

I’m Mbola, one of Nomad’s Data Analysts based in the Head Office, Newcastle upon Tyne and I have been working for Nomad for 8 months now. I am originally from The Democratic Republic of Congo and have been living in the UK now for 14 years.

I have worked at Nomad for four and a half years’, joining in December 2014 as a Software Developer, as part of a team that were developing an application in Microsoft Technology for a key customer. Within six months, I started to work in a team with external developers.
