Markus Delhey - Pre-sales Engineer, Hildesheim

My career has taken me all over Germany and it has been exciting to have the opportunity to travel around my country.

My story

My career has taken me all over Germany and it has been exciting to have the opportunity to travel around my country. I’ve had several jobs in the tech industry and prior to Nomad I spent 11 years working for a U.S company who specialise in tablet PCs. However, since starting my role at Nomad as a Pre-Sales Engineer in 2017 I now work from home but I am based in the Hildesheim office in Germany.

When I’m not working, you’ll either catch me playing golf or about to board a flight. I love travelling, seeing the sites and meeting new people!

A new role in a new industry

A huge challenge for me when joining Nomad was transitioning into the train industry. Other than travelling on trains and occasionally using the onboard internet, I had never considered anything beyond just getting from A to B whilst onboard a train. Luckily, I have had some experience in WiFi installation from a previous role but at Nomad, I’ve been given the opportunity to gain a much deeper understanding into technology, travel and trains!

I started at Nomad as a Pre-Sales Engineer supporting with professional engineer tasks on different projects such as Hamburger Hochbahn DT4, DB-R Saarland and Breisgau. But now I primarily support my sales colleagues, work on bids, technical designs and answer technical questions.

Why nomad?

Nomad is a great place to work as I have developed skills and had opportunities that weren’t available in my other roles. For example, at Nomad I’ve had the chance to use Linux based systems which has developed me skillset further. Nomad are such a supportive employer, ensuring that the correct training is always available everyone. Plus, at Nomad every day is a new challenge. Together with a good team, it brings me satisfaction to provide great solutions.
