World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2024

The ILO (International Labour Organization) World Day for Safety and Health was on the 28th of April this year, and at Nomad we prioritise supporting our employees to ensure they stay safe at work.

Head of QHSE, John Mills celebrates the International Labour Organisation’s World Day for Safety and Health by highlighting Nomad Digital’s fundamental commitment to keeping each and every employee safe in the office and out on site, day in day out.

The ILO (International Labour Organization) World Day for Safety and Health was on the 28th of April this year, and at Nomad we prioritise supporting our employees to ensure they stay safe at work.

Emmanuel Henry, Managing Director at Nomad Digital commented: “Safety underpins everything we we do at Nomad and covers everysingle person. Oursystems and processes support every employee whether they work in an office, at home or out on site.”

Below is a round-up of our recent activity and projects about safety and health at Nomad Digital:

  • As of the 1st of May 2024, Nomad Digital has reached 2 million working hours LTI (Lost Time Injury) free, which is a statistic that we are incredibly proud of as it helps to demonstrate our commitment to working safely.
  • Nomad Digital will be launching its Lifesaving Rules at the beginning of May 2024. These are 12 key rules we will adhere to around our operations to ensure we highlight risks and hazards and the key expectations and controls to overcome risk.
  • Nomad Digital will be launching a new Safety Award Scheme in May 2024 aimed at promoting safe working practices and communications across our business to improve our safety culture.
  • Our HR team launched our Wellbeing Hub in April 2024, giving information and resources to our people, including links to webinars we have completed and our assistance programme Care First.
  • In line with our Wellbeing calendar, Nomad Digital recognise Health and Wellbeing awareness days throughout the year by highlighting key dates, providing information and resources, and sharing these with all employees.
  • We recently celebrated Employee Appreciation Day in March 2024 by giving our employees an early finish, allowing them to use the time for anything they wanted to do for their well-being.
  • Our mandatory training for all employees across the business has been refreshed and now covers topics like fire safety, manual handling, slips, trips and falls and our safety reporting system. The training highlights key controls and risks to our employees to keep safety at the forefront of what they do.
  • Our Safety Toolkit training modules have been updated for our site-facing engineers. Covering a wide variety of modules such as asbestos awareness, lone working, hand and tool safety and depot hazards to name a few, these modules highlight the risks we may face and what controls we can adopt to stay safe when out on site.
  • In March we introduced a dedicated ‘Safety Moment’ into the agenda for our ‘Global Town Hall’ and which enables colleagues to share a personal experience of risk, putting safety in focus for all our employees.
  • In September 2023, Nomad launched a new POWSA (Point of Work Safety Assessment) App on both Android and IOS platforms for employees to utilise when out on site. The dynamic risk assessment allows our people to perform an on-the-spot check before starting work to ensure they are safe to start, ensuring they check key aspects of their environment and the work they are about to perform.
