(Newcastle upon Tyne, 5 September 2013) Nomad Digital, the global leader in wireless communications for the transportation sector, has completed a WiFi installation for VIA Rail’s long-haul train the Ocean.
Available to passengers on the Quebec City – Windsor corridor, the installation falls under a five-year $6.3 million contract, where Nomad will design, install, operate and maintain the WiFi infrastructure for VIA Rail – to keep passengers connected and entertained throughout their journey.
As part of a modernisation strategy for Canada’s national passenger rail service, VIA Rail responds to a very tangible need in an era where virtual communication and Web research are at the forefront of peoples’ daily activities.
The Canadian train operator claims that meeting the demands of the travelling public is a concrete way to stand out and earn the loyalty of its customers.
Speaking of the latest WiFi installation for VIA Rail, Nomad’s Interim CEO said;

Throughout the first weeks of availability, the Ocean’s WiFi users transferred 58 gigabytes of data – the equivalent of 100,000 web pages or 58,000 emails – without any additional cost.
