Raising money for Children in Need 2019

children in need 2019

BBC Children in Need’s vision is that ‘every child in the UK has a childhood which is safe, happy, secure and allows them the chance to reach their potential’.

Nomad Digital decided to support that vision this year by holding a one-day long fundraiser in Head Office.

We had a jam-packed fun-filled day in order to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause. In total, we raised £200.73, and this is how we did it…

The bake-off

The first thing we did was open our ‘all you can eat’ buffet (sweet and savoury), where lots of our people brought in contributions. We had some delicious home-baked treats and everyone made such a huge effort. So, we decided on having a ‘bake-off challenge’.  The Nomad judges were chosen based on their tasting skills – they had so many things to try! But there is only one winner…drum roll… it was our Head of Planning and Resourcing, Michelle Rich! 👇

Children In Need spread

“‘The recipe was passed to me many years ago by Aidan Ryder from our service desk. I have been making them for 8 years for family, friends and the R&D teams and everyone seems to really enjoy them. I enjoy baking and also make cupcakes and sponge cakes, but the brownies are everyone’s favourite and I can’t turn up to a family gathering without a batch!” –  Michelle Rich, Head of Planning and Resourcing

Football shirt swap challenge

The office set the challenge to football rivals Liam Currie (Sunderland FC fan) and John Mills (Newcastle FC fan), to swap football shirts for the day. Only if the rest of the Nomad team could raise £50. The challenge was excepted, and the team raised the money needed for them to go ahead. Liam and John were great sports and swapped shirts – look at their happy faces!

quiz time and PJ wearing

We held a Children in Need themed quiz and some staff members wore their PJ’s to work!

Thank you to everyone who took part in raising money for Children in Need this year – teamwork!
