A safe and healthy working environment is a fundamental principle and right at work.

2022-2023 so far for Nomad Digital:

What a year Nomad has had in relation to health and safety. To recap, here are some key highlights we have had as a business.

  • On Sunday, 26th March 2023, Nomad reached 1000 Days since our last Lost Time Injury (LTI). In achieving 1,000 days LTI free, we amassed almost 1.5million working hours across our global operations. This covers 12 countries and almost 300 people which is a fantastic achievement across our work, geographical dispersion, and risk variance.
  • In March, we won The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Silver Achievement Award for Health & Safety Performance for the second year running, further conveying our commitment to our people and to hold safety at the forefront of everything we do
  • We maintain our compliance to ISO 45001 globally for every location we operate in and have a maturing Safety Management System within our Business Management System (BMS). Our BMS includes dedicated sections covering all aspects of our safety controls, guidance documents, policies, and processes to support every employee in Nomad.
  • We are developing and improving our interactive Point of Work Safety Assessment (POWSA) app for site assurance that all engineers complete out on site to dynamically review their working environment before work commences. This covers our employees out on over 265 sites in over 15 countries we work in and to date, our engineers have completed over 17,000 POWSA assessments over the year’s.
  • Our training system has delivered over 2,500 safety related modules to our employees globally in recent years providing key information and guidance on specific safety hazards that our employees may face during their work. These include asbestos awareness, hand safety and working with electricity modules to name but a few.

We could not have achieved this success without the help of everyone in Nomad, with all regions and functions working safely and ensuring they do not put themselves or others at risk. We have a maturing safety culture that is always progressing, and every day employees exhibit positive safety behaviour by following our global safety processes and complying with local requirements when out on site.

Our work to ensure that safety is at the forefront of everyone’s mind will never come to an end, it is a continuous drive, a commitment to always improve and further sustain these great achievements we have seen recently.

“I have been involved in safety related roles for almost 20 years now and every single day it is always about people making the right choices to keep themselves safe. It’s great to celebrate our recent developments and successes at Nomad in this way, as it shows the dedication and work behind the scenes from everyone involved and ultimately choosing to do the right thing and work safely. Every day brings new challenges and hazards to face, so whilst we celebrate today, we refocus and go again tomorrow. Well done to everyone for their contribution to what we see here.”

“Nomad Digital brings digital solutions to the transport industry, resulting in Nomad employees being exposed to areas where extra vigilance is required, whether travelling to a depot or working on-board a train, assessing safe working conditions are met is crucial, and stopping all work should some uncertainty appear.

This discipline and awareness are not limited to the depot or when using transport but applies to every single employee, starting in the office with regular audits, alerts, reminders that safety should never be something that is taken for granted and involves our active participation as employees.

The results demonstrated over the past year are a positive testimonial result of the effort made and at the same time, are energising this process.
