Nomad Digital volunteers complete beach clean-up at Tynemouth Longsands

60 people, including 22 children helped collect over 500 items in beach clean event.

On Saturday 16^th September employees, family and friends from Nomad Digital turned out on International Coastal Clean Up Day 2023 to support their beach clean-up event at Tynemouth Longsands Beach. The tremendous efforts from the team also helped to support the Marine Conservation Society’s, ‘Great British Beach Clean 2023’ campaign.

On the day, 60 volunteers which included 22 children attended the event organised by Nomad Digital who provided all clean up equipment, food and drink, and entertainment for the children afterwards. The effort collected a total of 15kg of rubbish from over 500 separate pieces collected. Nomad Digital also rewarded staff with an additional half day holiday to recognise their contribution outside of office hours.

John Mills Nomad Digital’s Head of QHSE said, “Everyone that came along had a great morning and enjoyed the event. Involving children and educating the next generation on how important it is for a sustainable, clean and harm free environment for all, can only be a good thing to promote. Whilst our operations are on dry land, we appreciate how fragile the marine environments are, and want to help support and protect them by our community work which is driven by our CSR programmes. Well done to everyone who came along today and made a difference”.

Tynemouth Longsands beach is one of 3 North Tyneside beaches which have achieved ‘Blue Flag’ status since 1994. The Blue Flag status is an international award bestowed on the cleanest and best-maintained beaches in the country. Tynemouth Aquarium, located adjacent to the beach; hosted the post event celebrations and provided additional facilities which helped the event run smoothly on the day.

The event forms part of Nomad Digital’s wider CSR commitments and community work and supports its volunteering programme of events which all employees contribute to globally.

This is the second time Nomad has supported a beach clean-up exercise at Tynemouth Longsands beach.
