(London, 10 November 2015) Nomad Digital, has successfully deployed its Passenger WiFi for Poland’s PKP Intercity (PKP IC) trains. The project is one of the largest on-board connectivity deployments in Central and Eastern Europe, and represents a significant investment to deliver an improved passenger experience for PKP’s customers.
Nomad Digital was selected by T-Mobile for the PKP IC design, development, and installation during 2014, and has since deployed almost 300 carriages with its market-leading on-board connectivity and Passenger WiFi solution. The new on board system delivers unrivalled high-speed wireless broadband connectivity, and provides PKP’s passengers with seamless internet usage while travelling throughout Poland, Austria and Germany. The final phase of the project, which will provide passengers with access to entertainment services and multi-media content, is currently being completed.

The PKP IC deployment was delivered and is managed by Nomad’s local team in Poland, with support from the companies Central European team in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In recent months, the team has delivered successful new business wins across the region, including significant seven-figure € contracts for Connectivity, Passenger WiFi, Passenger Information Services (PIS), and Remote Condition Monitoring (RCM) solutions.
PKP Intercity is a subsidiary of PKP Group responsible for long-distance passenger transport. It runs approximately 350 trains daily, connecting large and small towns across Poland. The company also provides international trains to and from Poland.
The company was founded in 2001 after splitting Polskie Koleje Państwowe (national rail operator) into several companies to meet European Union Standards.
