Nomad’s new appointment focused on driving project delivery

(Newcastle, 10 November 2016)  Nomad Digital, the leading provider of passenger and fleet connectivity solutions to the rail industry has recruited a new Deputy Director of Operations for EMEAI, to enhance its sales and delivery functions.

Blair MacDonald has more than 25 years’ experience in management across a range of disciplines but with a focus on operations, having worked in telecommunications for the majority of his career.  More recently from 2013, at Wood Group Kenny Caledonia, he led a multi-discipline team of over 100 engineers and specialists, providing operational support to a plethora of oil and gas companies within the North Sea, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Blair’s role at Nomad is to provide a single point of contact to oversee the project management of all EMEAI projects and will touch different aspects of the EMEAI business, from the safe deployment of systems on trains through to service delivery and sales support. But the core emphasis of his role is to work with colleagues to drive delivery on behalf of Nomad’s customers.   

This will allow the development and growth of partnerships with customers through providing a consistent point of contact that is responsive to the customers’ needs and can be quickly cascaded down to teams on the ground and implemented.

Blair said “I’m excited about this role which provides the opportunity to get back into telecommunications, where I’ve spent most of my life. My key areas of experience rest in this field and are very adaptable.

“My time in oil and gas enabled me to further enhance my management and business skills. This new Nomad role allows me to combine management and telecommunications and tailor my focus to meeting our customers’ requirements by building on the strategic partnerships we have established with them. It is very much a sleeves-rolled-up, hands-on management and delivery role, but clearly with the responsibility to develop our quality standards to ensure projects are delivered to consistently high professional standards.”
