London, 10 November 2015: Nomad Digital, the global leader in the provision of on-board passenger solutions and services, has successfully deployed its Passenger WiFi for Poland’s PKP Intercity (PKP IC) trains. The project is one of the largest on-board connectivity deployments in Central and Eastern Europe, and represents a significant investment to deliver an improved passenger experience for PKP’s customers.
Nomad Digital was selected by T-Mobile for the PKP IC design, development, and installation during 2014, and has since deployed almost 300 carriages with its market-leading on-board connectivity and Passenger WiFi solution. The new on board system delivers unrivalled high-speed wireless broadband connectivity, and provides PKP’s passengers with seamless internet usage while travelling throughout Poland, Austria and Germany. The final phase of the project, which will provide passengers with access to entertainment services and multi-media content, is currently being completed.
Nomad’s General Manager for EMEAI, Jean-Philippe Tissot, comments: “The PKP IC Passenger WiFi deployment is a ground-breaking deployment of Nomad’s market leading technology, which will fully enhance the passenger experience for its customers”.
“Nomad has worked closely with both T-Mobile and PKP, to design and deliver a long-term strategic technology platform, with scalability in mind, enabling innovative on board passenger services for today – but with scope for new technologies and applications, whether they be passenger or operationally focussed, to be added in the future.”
The PKP IC deployment was delivered and is managed by Nomad’s local team in Poland, with support from the companies Central European team in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In recent months, the team has delivered successful new business wins across the region, including significant seven-figure € contracts for Connectivity, Passenger WiFi, Passenger Information Services (PIS), and Remote Condition Monitoring (RCM) solutions.
