New partnership launched with Translink Group

(Newcastle, 27 February 2017) Nomad Digital, the world’s leading provider of passenger and fleet connectivity solutions to the rail industry, has successfully partnered with the Translink Group (the main public transport provider in Northern Ireland) to offer its state-of-the-art WiFi solution on trains, buses and coaches across the territory.

Translink is made up of three companies: Metro, Ulsterbus and Northern Ireland Railways.  The partnership involves an extension of Nomad’s current WiFi provision on trains and also marks new business through the introduction of Nomad’s WiFi system on buses, coaches, and new high-quality rapid transit vehicles.

The scope and scale of Nomad’s WiFi provision involves:
 

  • Nomad to provide Translink’s WiFi requirements for the next five years across the rail and bus fleets
  • A continuation of a successful four-year partnership on the rail fleets
  • A successful upgrade on the Enterprise fleet.

Working in partnership with multi-modal customers allows Nomad to provide a common management platform. Its R4500 series will be deployed across Translink’s trains, buses and coaches, creating a common, consistent product family, generating operational efficiencies and cost savings. This enables the transport operator to take full advantage of the very latest innovative WiFi router architecture, incorporating new technologies such as integrated next-generation modems and access points, providing Translink with a scalable, future-proofed solution.
