(Newcastle upon Tyne, 28 October 2016) Nomad Digital, the world’s leading provider of passenger and fleet connectivity solutions to the rail industry, has successfully partnered with Alstom to deliver passenger WiFi to 30 Coradia Continental electric trains to the Hessische Landesbahn GmbH (HLB) in Hessen, Germany.
The trains will operate on the Südhessen-Untermain network, connecting the cities of Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Aschaffenburg, in the west-central part of Germany.
This further builds on Nomad’s successful partnership with Alstom, following a previous contract for Coradia Continental, while it further develops its local presence in Germany, where it previously delivered the ENNO deployment of 24 trains.
These new Alstom-built networked trains have Nomad’s open connectivity infrastructure built into them. This also marks the first deployment in Germany of Nomad's next-generation R4551 platform, offering the very latest in innovative, leading technology and performance. Nomad’s newest compact WiFi router architecture provides a connectivity platform which incorporates new technologies such as integrated next-generation modems and access points, enabling the quick integration of additional operational applications, providing a scalable, future-proofed solution to the customer.
Jean-Philippe Tissot, EMEAI General Manager, said “This contract win in Germany further strengthens our foothold in this territory. It also strengthens our relationship with Alstom in Germany, enabling Hessische Landesbahn GmbH’s passengers to experience a leading-edge connectivity experience on their journey, whether they are keeping up-to-date with their busy work schedule by exchanging emails and downloading files, or accessing entertainment, media and social networks.”
